Our site, a food court.

I thought the area was quite big enough.

In front of the food court was a busy and noisy main road.

The illegal roof structure.

No any tap and sink were prepared, just the water tank could be seen only.

The sanitary of the food court was not very good since we could see the cat slept on the chair.

The area of a food stall was not large enough for preparing the food.

The electric system was prepared for every food stall.

The backyard of the food court which was very messy.

The toilet which was not big enough.

The lecturer commented that was a chaotic building structure.

The parking lot which was not large enough.

In this assignment, we had to upgrade the existed food court. For this time, we had only 5 week to rush our assignment, life gonna be tough, haiz~

From the photo, we can see the ventilation of the building structure and the section of the building. It is quite important because passive ventilation reduce the usage of the electricity. We can observe that less ventilation are presented in the toilet. as we know the toilet is the area with high humidity, so the top hung vents are added for the ventilation purpose. For the section, the louvers which are below the roof allow the ventilation of the building.

PROJECT 2: "ECO-HOUSE"

The eco-house is used for the various purpose. The properties of this building are environmental friendly and minimizing the release of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). So, I had tapped with autonomous technology in my building design, such as solar panel and rain harvest system to minimize the usage of electricity and the water supply. For the ventilation of the building, the louvers had set on the lower part of my roof and the air-conditioner which releases CFC(a chemical compound which destroy the ozone layer) are prohibited.

Project 2: ventilation flow test

Kian Hong was nervous with his outcome.

It was what we had done in the machine.

The worker put the ink in to the machine.

The machine was glowing, awesome!!

It was the 1st try, failed ad, u can see the flow can passed through the wall~

It was the flow for the section, simple but worked.

I redid it again, haiz~

The ventilation flow test is the test to determine whether the ventilation of a building work. So we had to do the test, although ah foong did not do the test, because he felt that it is not necessary.

That day, I arrived the lab earlier because 1 day before, the lab was flooded by people. Kian Hong waited in front of lab already, so we did it together, I forgot to bring my cellophane tape, luckily Kian Hong borrowed me.

But, the tape was not thick enough, the flow flowed though it, so the 1st test was failed. Kian Hong and me were frustrated. Luckily, Shu Hui came and gave us the tape she used( the thicker 1) and finally it was successful.

Finally, I had done my project 1. No surprise, no specialty, just the simple structure of post and beam. May be it was just the Ar. Majid wanted, I did my best already.

Project 01: Mini Pavilion for USM in Pulau Pinang (text)

First, my concept fr my building is inspired by overlapping of 2 square. For the circulation, there are only 1 flow to make sure the visitors will not miss any corner of the pavilion. In this pavilion, there are 3 parts of exhibition, part 1 will let the visitors understand the history background of USM. The second part of exhibition display the outcome of the research of every school of USM. The final part of the exhibition is the effort and the journey of USM to achieve its vision - becoming the apex university for international level.

I really had not any idea about my pavilion, but I remember my senior had told me before, Ar. Majid liked the conservative design, he did not like the complicated design. He must be satisfied if the building's geometrical shape is simple as possible.

So, I made my floor plan to be simple- 2 square overlap each other and only 1 flow for the circulation. Ar. Majid seem satisfied with my outcome.

Beside that, It was also the convocation day for HBP school, many of our super senior were busy to take photo around DTSP. Before that, I was not intent to go there but accompanied Ah Foong to meet his super senior, so I did not prepare anything for my super senior and she did not recognized me also.

When I reached there, I saw my super senior- Adeline. Happy feeling was written on her face, and she was so excited. I am in anguish and hesitated for telling her about I was her super junior. After the encouragement form Ah Foong, I told her that I am her super junior, she looked happier than ever. haha!

Of course, I was proud of her for getting a seat in 4th year, it was not easy anyway. Later on, my direct senior- Lee Ping arrived already. 3 of us snapped photo together. Now, I can imagine my lovely direct junior- Jason Chew and Janick Khor will give the flowers to me at my convocation day in future.

Adeline is my role model now, I want to put effort also to get an seat in 4th years!

The lecturer who wore blue tudung is Dr. Sharifah, I thought she was quite OK, but my senior said she was very bad...

Today, everything seem run smoothly, until our presentation, my brain was totally blanks to give the presentation,still in anguish state. Haiz, Group 1 should bore the miserable destiny. We had no choice, the 1st 1 to give the presentation.Overall was ok la, but the site survey was quite complicated, the lecturers was not so satisfied. I didnt want to redo again since we had put so much effort on it.

The 2nd year studio was not funny as 1st year, the lecturer wanted to see realistic workout. No more relax times, boring lecture, haiz~~ anyway, life have to go on, so gambateh, Chin Teck.

I spent a whole afternoon to sketch the Japan pavilion at the corner, but the workout satisfied me. The robot who play the violin was drawn by Marry, quite nice!!

Yesterday, we had site visit to Tapak Pesta around terminal Sg. Nibong. 10m x 10m of land had chosen for site analysis. Our group was assigned to record wind direction, humidity and temperature periodically. Needless to say, it was a quite simple task since Mac led us a helping hand. We spend a cheerful time at site and I get my direct juniors, 1 is Jason Chew (a guy from Keat Hwa, who was friend of Weng Jen), another is Khor Chong Keat, I hope my junior had the personality of obedient to their senior~~haha!!

Then, we spent a lot of time in Studio today, I can see the progress of my group, I cant tolerate delaying the work. Our group hold the principle of efficiency since we have Siew Bee in our group, and most important 2 of my group members got car, haha!!

Anyway, I hope we can done our work at time~
